OpenAI has announced a significant update to its ChatGPT service that enhances user experience across different subscription tiers, most notably for its free and Go tier users. Starting from next week, users on these tiers will enjoy the privilege of engaging in unlimited text chats with the ChatGPT bot, a move designed to make the service more accessible. In addition to lifting chat restrictions for free and Go users, OpenAI is also introducing a new feature called the “Think” button. This feature is aimed at enhancing the bot’s performance by enabling it to apply higher reasoning to more complex queries. Concurrently, these users will also benefit from an upgrade to the chatbot’s default AI model. The transition to the recently released GPT-5.6 Luna model is expected to improve the quality and reliability of interactions.
For subscribers on the Plus and Pro tiers, OpenAI is rolling out updates to the GPT-5.6 Sol model. These enhancements are focused on improving the model’s fact-checking capabilities and reducing errors, particularly in responses that involve specific details such as dates, numbers, sources, rules, or assumptions. The upgrade aims to allow the AI to utilize sources more effectively to provide more accurate answers. Moreover, the GPT-5.6 Sol model will now offer more concise and straightforward responses, avoiding unnecessary details that do not contribute to answering the user’s questions.
These premium subscribers will also gain access to a new slider tool which allows them to control the depth of thought ChatGPT employs in crafting answers. By adjusting this slider, users can tailor the thoroughness of the response according to their needs, whether they require simple, quick answers or more detailed explanations.
These updates represent OpenAI’s commitment to continually refining their AI models and expanding their functionality to cater to a diverse range of user needs and preferences.
